The convention is taking place from 24th to 26th October 2003, at the Fairways Hotel, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland.

The Importance of Being Early

Let's get down to brass tacks here: If you haven't already booked your hotel room, you'll be utterly delighted to see that there is a Hotel Booking Form included with this Progress Report, so please feel free to fill it out and post it off right now... I'll wait.

All done? Excellent! And just in case you've decided to cheat and just pretend to this paragraph that you've booked, here are the many and fascinating reasons you should book early:

1. If you decide to leave booking until the last minute, we can't guarantee that there will actually be any rooms left. The hotel has just over a hundred rooms, and we've already got a over a hundred people signed up (this number includes a few that we're not telling you about yet). Of course, some of these people will be sharing rooms, but even so, it's best not to let these things slide for too long, particularly because of Reason Number 2.

2. We chose the Fairways Hotel for several reasons. Aside from the fact that the staff and management are amazingly friendly and helpful, and that the con rooms are incredible (wait till you see the Disco room – you'll love it!), the hotel has a great attribute: it's all alone. There are no other hotels around. Certainly not within easy walking distance. The reason this is a positive attribute should be clear to those of you who were at Damn Fine Con: with everyone based in the one location, the con never really shuts down.
