Three days to go...! Here's Bill's final message!
2003 09 12
We're Full! Yep, that's right! 170 members! So if you're still interested in coming along,
get in touch ASAP - you never know, there might be one or two drop-outs. The names of stand-by
attendees will be added on a first-come, first-served basis.
2003 09 03
As I write this, we've got four places left. That's right. Four. So if you haven't booked yet,
the chances are that you're already too late. But don't despair - there's bound to be a few people
who've already booked but can't make it to the con, so if you're interested get in touch as soon as
possible: we'll add the names of stand-by attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.
The second Progress Report was posted last week, so most of you should have your copies by now.
If you haven't, fear not - they're on the way! In the meantime, there's some selected extracts from
PR2 on-line now. Click here to check them out.
Oh no! There's another message from Bill!

Just a quick note to let you know that we've added a couple of images to the
Images page... If you have anything along these lines you'd like us to add
to the site, feel free to e-mail it to us!

SproutLore are organising a special launch for Robert Rankin's latest book, The
Witches of Chiswick, taking place in Brentford on Saturday 2nd of August. We're meeting
at the Memorial Library at 12:30pm. Events of the day include a picnic, pub visit, the
book launch itself (in Waterstones on the Chiswick High Street), and a visit to another pub,
where we'll be entertained by a special performance by Robert and his band, the Rock Gods. There
will
also be some talks, a raffle, finger food and - hopefully - some local bands. There will be
a nominal charge of £5 for the day. Check the SproutLore
Website
for more details!
156 down, 14 to go! Yes, there are only 14 places left for They Came and Shaved Us! This means,
as you might imagine, that it's time to book if you haven't done so already. Don't forget that if
you're
currently strapped for cash we have a supporting membership of only £10 / €15 (please note
that this
is non refundable, and the balance must be paid by the first of September 2003 or the place held
will be
lost).
Anyone got any more nominations for the Celebrity Deathmatch?
If so, send them in!

Good news for fans of our Bad Joke of the Day section! As a special treat, we've decided to
re-run past jokes! Or, to put it another way, we've run out of new jokes and it makes more sense
to re-use old ones than to put out yet another "send us your jokes" appeal (thanks to the three
people who responded to our previous appeals).
Check out the Images page to see lengths to which some folk have gone to
promote the con. We want more photos like this - the more outrageous the better (as long as it's
legal, of course)! At the con we'll announce a prize for the sender of the best photo, so get
snapping! The winner will receive an exclusive... Er... [looks around] a Rare Limited Edition
Gateway Mousemat!
Here's yet another message from Bill!

Congratulations to our Master of Ceremonies Robert Rankin on his recent amazing success at
the SFX Event! Robert's novel The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse was
awarded Best Novel of 2003. As any who have met him will know, Robert is devastatingly
modest and believed that he'd never win, so when the winner was announced he was in the
bar, where he was finally tracked down by Red Dwarf's Chris Barrie and presented
with the award.
As of yesterday, we've now got 145 wonderful people signed up for the con! As mentioned before,
TC&SU is a limited convention - there are only 170 places in total (not counting the guests, of
course!), so that means that there are only... um... (170 minus 145... that's the
same as 70 minus 45, so that's... er... 25!) twenty-five remaining places. So we suggest
that anyone who hasn't signed up yet should do so as soon as possible. Any membership applications
we receive after we run out of places will be put on a "standby" list, just in case some of the
supporting members change their minds (or don't pay the outstanding balance in time).

Hot news! We've decided to add a News Page! So... <deepvoice>Here is the
news.</deepvoice>
It's the second of May 2003, and there are one hundred and seventy-five days to go before
They Came and Shaved Us kicks off. This might seem like a long time, but... Well, remember
last November when the nights were getting dark and the cold was creeping in and you thought that
summer would never arrive? Well, that went by fast, didn't it? So while 175 days might seem
like a lot of time from this end of it, pretty soon the con will be upon us and we'll all be
rushing around like legless chickens trying to get done all those things that we knew there was
plenty of time to get done...
As you'll see from the list of members, we've just hit the one
hundred and thirty mark. This means that there are only forty places available, so anyone who
hasn't got around to booking yet really should do so as soon as possible!
Now, as you all know the convention officially starts on Friday 24th of October, but anyone
considering travelling to Ireland for the con should also consider coming over a couple of days
earlier, because there should be at least one pre-con event happening! It's all still a bit "up in
the air" at the moment, but the plan is that Mr. Rankin will be doing a signing in Dublin on
Thursday 23rd. After that, there will be a gathering of ZZ9, Dublin Sci-Fi Club and Sproutlore
people in a nearby pub. There will also, of course, be a "Dead dog" party on the Monday after the
con, venue to be decided closer to the date.
Cyberartist Chip Livingstone has sent us a truly amazing image created especially for the con:
Check the Images page to see it, and a couple of Chairman Bill's creations.
We've added to the site some extracts from Progress Report Number One for
all those unlucky people who joined too late.
Exclusive TC&SU badges are now available! Check the Stuff page for more
details!
So far, only a few people have nominated for the Celebrity
Deathmatch. I like to think that this is because the rest of you are carefully considering
your nominations... Regardless, check out the latest stats: things have changed quite a bit!
And finally in today's news...We have a new message from Bill.
